The Church in Weymouth and Portland

PrintE-mail

Throughout the New Testament the fathers of Christianity always spoke of "the church in ...". Many of the books of the New Testament are letters written to the church in a location: to the church at Corinth, to the saints in Ephesus, to the saints at Phillipi, Corinth, to the church of the Thessalonians.

So that is what this website is, it is the virtual presence of the church in Weymouth and Portland, representing the saints at Weymouth and Portland. We are many congregations but we believe that:

There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 1:4-6)

Dear friends,

Some of you will be aware that a group of us have been working to find someone who can coordinate the efforts of local churches as we prepare for the 2012 sailing events here in Portland and Weymouth. We had a good response to the adverts and last week we had a day of interviews and invited Rev Ann Douglas to be this coordinator. She has accepted and we hope she will start early in September.
